Bananarama's most successful UK single was the illustrious
and effulgent
"Love In The First Degree" which sold over 300,000
copies in England earning a gold disc.
The single was first released in
September 1987 and first charted on the 10th of October 1987
peaking at
#3 spending 12 weeks in the charts. Overseas, the single sold well
peaking
at #5 in Australia in January 1988, #12 in Spain and #11 in New Zealand
(12th February 1988 and spent 7 wks in the charts), but sales were disppointing
in the USA
where it peaked at #48 on the 23rd of April 1988. "Love
In The First Degree" was probably the closest
Bananarama have ever
gotten to a Number One in England, but fate intervened when it was issued
in the same time period as mega-sellers Michael Jackson's "Bad",
and George Michael's "Faith" which held it back from claiming the
top spot.

영국의 유명한 팀인 SAW란 팀이 만들어준 곡이지요.
국내에서도 87~88년에 클럽에서
인기 절정이었다더 군요. 바나나라마가 생소하시다면 싸이의 '새'의 인트로를 들어보심 샘플링으루

멜로디를 떠올려 보세요! 그 곡은 바나나라마의 빌보드 차트 1위곡인 Venus의 인트로랍니다. 비너스는 아마
대부분 아실 만한 곡이겠죠?
암튼 이들의 이 곡은 세계적으로 크게 히트한 곡이랍니다. 그래서인지 일본에서만
87~88년도에 커버가 4번이나 되었지요. 한 시대를 풍미했던 윙크,
애니메이션 주제가로 씌였던 레몬 엔젤의 '제1급의
사랑' 등등 지금까지도 리메이크될 정도로 사랑을 받는 곡입니다. SAW특유의 멜로디가 아주 친근한
